-- Members are welcomed to bring plants/supplies/ baked goods to sell at
our monthly club meetings. After the sale, please don’t forget to
give 10% commission to the club treasurer. 2) Members are to
bring their own drinks to the meeting – only refreshments will be served.

Minutes of the December 4, 2010 Meeting
Call to order. Vice Pres Mike Morano called a brief
meeting to order at 11:05 a.m.
Approval of Minutes: The Minutes of 11/8/10
was approved as distributed.
Guests: Sandy Kubota, Cynthia Lee Loy, Maria and
Hendrick Amaral.
Treasurer’s Report: No treasurer report was given
but Bob mentioned that the rentals for the use of Mililani Mauka’s
cafeteria for February through June of 2011 and the MDE event in May will
be paid along with the General Excise Tax early next year.
Unfinished Business:
1. Vacancy for Treasurer’s position: the membership voted
to accept Kathleen Eastlack to serve as the 2011 Treasurer to replace Ann
Geschwandtner.
2. Mike recognized the following outgoing 2010 Officers/Board
members with orchid leis:
Chita Stewart – President (in her absence,
Mike gave praise to Chita’s great work as our 2010 President)
Mike Morano – Vice President
Gail Yamanaka - Secretary
Bob Lee
- Treasurer
Ron Kubota - Sgt at Arms
Directors:
- Ann Morano and Ann Geschwandtner - 1st year
- Kay Patton and Doris Lee - 2nd year
Recognition also went to the following: Sets Bluemke and Laura
McLead for serving as the Refreshment Co-Chairs and Amy Teves for chairing
both the 2010 and 2011 Kunia Orchid Show displays and the MDE events.
3. Special recognition and mahalo to the following members:
a) “Hail and Farewell” went to Doc Gray, our honorary club member,
who is leaving Hawaii and moving to the state of Indiana. Thanks
Doc for all that you’ve done for the Mililani Orchid club – we will miss
you!
b) Thanks to Bob and Doris Lee for their donation of the Xmas
cake and ice cream. Doris also made special T-leaf leis for the outgoing
officers and Board members.
c) A huge grand prize orchid basket for the raffle was made and
donated by Fern Fernandez.
d) Ron Kubota gave the members/guests orchid calendars and DVD
orchid slide shows. Sandy Kubota donated two of her beautiful ribbon
wreaths as raffle prizes.
e) Xmas table favors were made by Cynthia Gaumont.

Installation of Officers: Gail Yamanaka called up
the new officers and Board of Directors and conducted the Oath of Office
for our new 2011 Officers:
President: Mike Morano
Vice Pres: Chita Stewart (absent)
Secretary: Ann Morano
Treasurer: Kathleen Eastlack (came in later)
Sgt at Arms: Ernie Laboguen
Board of Directors: Kay Patton, Ria Keltz-Reminar,
Danny Govina (came in later)
and Clem Roldan (absent)
Cynthia Gaumont and Margaret Yim were also announced as the 2011
Refreshment Co-Chairs.
Announcements
1. Mike explained that each member should have a colored
“tent” to place on the table where they will sit so the waitress will know
what they have ordered. Those who are ordering from the menu should
give their orders to the server.
2. He announced that the raffles tickets are on sale for
$2.00 each or 3 tickets for $5.00.
3. Mike thanked Ben Kodama, Jr., Fern Fernandez, Ann Gerschwandtner
and Reid Kawamoto for supplying the plants for the plant raffle.
4. The next Board meeting will be held on January 29, 2011
at 2:00 p.m. at the Morano’s residence at 95-226 Kaopua Loop. Please
call Mike, 623-8043, if you are not able to attend this first Board meeting.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 11:35
a.m. The next general meeting will be held on February 7, 2011 at
7:00 p.m. at the Mililani Mauka Elementary cafeteria.
