Minutes of the October 4, 2010 Meeting
Call to order: President Chita Stewart called the meeting
to order at 7:09 p.m.
New member/Guest: none.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes of 7/5/10
were approved as distributed.
Treasurer’s Report: Our current account balance
is: $4.509.00. Checking: $2,023.05; savings: $1,326.69;
and CD: $1,159.26. Treasurer’s report was accepted by the membership.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Christmas Dinner: The Menu Committee will be selecting
the Xmas party menu and its cost and the selection will be sent out with
the next newsletter.
2. 2011 Officer Nominations: Chita announced that there
are no nominations for the 2011 officer positions and if we don’t get new
officers, the club may have to be dissolved. Fortunately, members
did not want the fate of the club to be terminated so the following members
have volunteered to serve in the officer positions:
a. President – Mike Morano
b. Vice-Pres – Chita Stewart
c. Secretary - Ann Morano
d. Treasurer - Ann Gerschwandtner
e. Sgt at Arms – Ernie Laboguen (Ron Kubota will continue to
pick up the keys)
f. Board of Directors – Kay Patton, Clem Roldan, Ria Keltz-Reminar,
and Danny Govina The following volunteered to serve as
committee chairpersons:
a. Program Chair – Mike Morano
b. Membership - Kay Patton
c. Refreshment – Cynthia Gaumont and Margaret Yim
Cynthia Gaumont made a motion to accept the 2010 slate of officers
and Board of Directors and Doris Lee seconded. The membership then
voted unanimously to approve the new 2010 slate of officers.
NEW BUSINESS: none.
Announcements:
1. Chita thanked members who brought in refreshments for the
meeting and also to those who brought refreshments for the last meeting.
She also thanked Ron who has been picking up the key to the cafeteria and
opening and closing the facilities.
2. She announced that there were orchid magazines available and
Mike will be bringing
more orchid magazines at the next meeting.
3. Reminders: help cleanup after the meeting - take
care of the trash and
don’t forget to VOTE at the General Election
on November 2nd.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
Due to the General Election on November 2nd, the next general meeting will
be held on November 8, 2010 at the Mililani Mauka Elementary School.

A BIG THANK YOU goes to both Fern and Clem for their innovative demonstration
on how to make different types of hangers from wire and cord to hang baskets
and pots (clay and plastic) to hold your orchid plants. You can buy
your wires at Lowe’s, baskets at Goodwill or Savers, and clay pots at City
Mill. They said to drill holes in pots, you will need to use a ceramic
drill.
Our 2010 Annual MOC Xmas Party luncheon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
December 4, 2010 at the Alonzo Restaurant at the Mililani Golf Clubhouse
which is located across (Waianae side) from the Mililani McDonald’s on
Kam Hwy. Bring a guest, if you wish, there will be ono food and cake/ice
cream --- our annual plant raffle (cost of raffle tickets will be 3 tickets
for $5.00 or 1 ticket for $2.00) --- installation of our new 2010 Officers
and Board of Directors!
Please see attached sign up sheet to select your choice of menu and
make your payment at the next meeting on November 8 or mail in your payment
before November 27. The club is subsidizing $10 for each member and
associate. Guests will need to pay the full amount of their menu
choice.
