Old Business:

1.  Xmas party:  Bob reported that so far the total number of attendees is 60.  He also reminded us that there will be no refunds once you have signed up.
a. The Board asked approval from the membership to give free Xmas meals to the following members for their extra services rendered to the club:  Sets Bluemke and Laura McClead (for serving as refreshment co-chairs), Ben Kodama, Jr. (for providing us the monthly plants and coordinating the field trips), and Sandra Kubota (for getting us the keys for our monthly meetings).
A motion was made, seconded and passed by the membership to approve this action.
b. Chita made a motion to increase the Xmas plant raffle expenditure from $500 to $600 since there are more people attending than last year.  The motion was passed to approve increasing the plant raffle to $600.
c. Gift certificates for our monthly speakers:  Mike also asked the membership for approval to award each monthly speaker a $25 Walmart gift certificate in appreciation for their presentations.  The gift certificates will be presented to the speakers at the Xmas party.   The five speakers were:  Reid Kawamoto, Fern Fernandez, Clem Roldan, Ron Kubota and Ted Miyamoto.  A motion was made, seconded and passed by the membership to approve this action.
2.  Ted’s costs of materials for November’s presentation:  Mike asked the membership for approval for Ted’s cost of materials for tonight’s flower basket demonstration but before he could state the cost, Ted Miyamoto said that there will be no cost since he is donating the baskets and other members have also donated the flowers and plants.
3.  Field trip:  Ben told members who are going on Saturday’s Waianae nursery field trip to meet at the Assagio’s parking lot at 8:00 a.m.  He also distributed maps to show how to get to Kogachi’s and Kodama’s nurseries. Members are to report to Kogachi nursery first.
New Business:
1.  Nomination slate for 2010 Officers and Board of Directors:  Before announcing the 2010 nomination slate, Mike asked if there were any more nominations from the floor.  There were none so he read the 2010 nomination slate:  President:  Chita Stewart; Vice President: Mike Morano; Secretary: Gail Yamanaka;  Treasurer: Bob Lee; Sgt-at-Arms: Ron Kubota;  Board of Directors (1st Term):  Ann Geschwandtner and Ann Morano.
The President called for a vote to approve the 2010 Officers and Board of Directors nomination slate and the membership voted in approval. Mike said that Ted will be the Installation Officer at our Installation/Xmas party.

BIG MAHALO goes to Ted Miyamoto for his presentation at the November meeting on “How to put together a Flower and Plant Basket”. Ted showed us the materials needed to put a basket together and how to arrange these items to make an attractive basket. He said that people appreciate basket arrangements as gifts because they are specially made and tend to last longer.  Thanks to Kay Patton for her demonstration of making ribbons for the baskets and Gail Yamanaka who showed how to make a cut flower basket arrangement.  After everyone enjoyed making their group baskets, all the baskets were auctioned off which gave the club a little more money to the treasury.  Many thanks also goes to the following who donated flowers and plants for this exercise:  Fern Fernandez, Ann Geschwandtner, Reid Kawamoto and Ben Kodama, Jr. Thanks Ted for donating the many baskets, too.

THANK YOU Ben Kodama, Jr. for coordinating the wonderful field trip we had on November 7 at the Kogachi and Kodama nurseries.  The members bought a good collection of various orchid plants at so reasonable prices, too.  It was also nice to mingle with the Kunia Orchid club members who went on the orchid safari with us.

WISHING YOU AND YOURS
A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS
AND A
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
